We were really lucky to be asked to go along to Silverstone last weekend for Silverstone Classic to see the one and only Roary the Racing car in his live show. Both Molly and Alfie love Roary the Racing Car and my Husband is a big Formula 1 Fan, so we were all excited for a family day out.
We headed off to the Roary show and had our picnic whilst we were waiting for them to set up and get started, Alfie loved it, he was wandering around and loving the fact he could be free from his pram and stretch his legs for a little while.
Once the show started Molly did her usual ‘go shy’ routine but soon got into the swing of it and loved every minute! Alfie was clapping and pointing, and at one point I am sure he tried to say Roary as well!
The kids loved the show, it was very impressive and there was a lot of audience participation to keeps the kids attention which was great. I think Molly was a bit star struck if I am honest, she couldn’t quite believe that Roary was in front of her for real bless her! It really was a great show.
After the show we watched the end of the Classic Cars lap of the track, it really was something seeing all those great cars going round, Molly loved it sat up on Daddy’s shoulders watching them go by.
We then went off for a quick ice-cream break before heading to the funfair!
I was grateful that we had thought ahead (just the night before to be fair!) and borrowed a stroller from my neighbour for Molly, we don’t have a double since we sold the iCandy, I keep saying that we can manage without one, and most of the time we can. BUT it really was a good job we took two buggies as not only would Molly have struggled to walk around the huge circuit, but there was also a lot of traffic around and I would have been worried about her being on foot with all the cars around.
We decided to head over to the AA World which was a bit of a commotion with two buggies, the changing bag and a picnic, there were busses to get you around the circuit but we had to put both buggies down in order to get on – not very practical really, BUT it was worth it! When we arrived at the AA World guess who was there?
I wish my camera had been pointing at Alfie at this very moment, because his little face was a picture! He literally couldn’t believe his eyes bless him.
Whilst there we got to decorate a plate, which we could take home as a memory of our day with Roary. I had grand ideas of it being perfect with lots of nice patterns on it and ‘Molly and Alfie Silverstone 2012′ on it, but, as you can see from the picture this didn’t happen….I kinda like the way it turned out though, perfectly done by my lovely babies!
My husband also got a chance to have a go on a giant Scalextric and became the Champion by winning his tournament….needless to say this made his day and he is very proud of his achievement!
On the way back to the car we went down to the track side and watched the cars race past. We had seen some of the races as we were wandering around but I wanted to see it up close and I am so glad I did. If you have never been before and ever get the chance to go, then do it! Watching the cars race round past you really is something else. It is breathtaking!
All in all we had an amazing day out, the kids loved it, especially the Roary Show and meeting Big Chris! We headed off home with two very happy, and very tired little monkeys after a simply brilliant day!
